Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a comprehensive promotional and preventive intervention to mainstream HIV & AIDS prevention, care & support and treatment impact, mitigation, stigma reduction enhance/promote voluntary blood donation among the youth in educational institutions. It will also prepare and promote youth peer educators within and outside the campuses. At present there are 72 colleges having RRC in Nagaland.

  • Two RRCs formed : Modern Institute of Teacher’s Education, Kohima & Yemhi Memorial College, Dimapur
  • HIV & AIDS and Blood Donation Camp
    1. State College of Teacher Education, Kohima conducted HIV & AIDS Awareness & Blood donation on 14th October, 2016 under the theme : Focus, Partner, Achieve: An AIDS & Drug – free generation. HIV Test was also conducted on the same day.
    2. Modern College, Kohima observed National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on 1st of October, 2016. IEC materials on importance of blood donation were distributed. On 18th November, 2016 – Twenty (20) RRC members along with the Nodal Officer visited Blood Bank, NHAK, Kohima; and Seven (7) of them donated their Blood. On the same day, Slogan & Poster Competitions were held in the Campus under the theme; “The Importance of Blood Donation.” The winning Slogans are :
      • “To the young and healthy it’s no loss, to the sick it’s hope of life. Donate Blood to give each life.” – Moalong, XII Commerce.
      • “Blood is meant to Circulate. Pass it around.” – Merenyatet Jamir, XII Science ‘B’
      • “Stop Shedding Blood and Start Sharing Blood.” – Vezuta Rhakho, 6th (Hons.)

 

  1. RRC members from Baptist College, Kohima organized a one day ‘Peer Educators Training Programme’ on 30th July, 2016. The resource persons were Dr. Mehokhu Zao, SMO, ART Plus Centre, NHAK & Mrs. Thejangunuo Theunuo, Deputy Director, NSACS. During 2016-17 Five (5) RRC members from Baptist College, Kohima donated blood to the needy patients. The RRC members took charge of First Aid during the Annual College Sports Meet.
  2. Japf Christian College, Kohima conducted HIV & AIDS awareness programme on 18th March 2017 with Dr. Visakhon  Hibo as the resource person.
  3. John College, Dimapur conducted Painting & Essay Competition on World AIDS Day 2016
  4. During 2016-17 S.D. Jain Girls College conducted seminars on “Significance of Blood Donation” and “Awareness on HIV & STD.” The RRC members also conducted Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with District Hospital, Dimapur under the supervision of Dr. T. Temsu Ao, SMO I/C Blood Bank.
  5. Bosco College of Teacher Education, Dimapur conducted HIV & AIDS Awareness Programme on 24th March, 2017
  6. Pfutsero Government College, Phek conducted HIV & AIDS Awareness Programme on 1st April, 2017
  7. Peren Govt College, Peren conducted Motivational Cum Sensitization for RRC members on 25th July, 2016. The RRC members also conducted HIV & AIDS awareness programme on 25th 2016
  8. On 13th August, 2016 Four (4) RRC members of Kros Colleg, Kohima donated blood during the College Health Camp. The RRC members took charge of First Aid during the Annual College Sports Meet held from 15-17 September, 2016.
  9. Launching of Red Ribbon Club of Modern Institute of Teacher Education was held on 11 November, 2016. During the launching programme 36 RRC members came forward for HIV test
  10. On 6th August 2016, the RRC members of Model Christian College organized an Orientation of RRC Cum Blood Donation and HIV Test. Eleven (11) RRC members donated their Blood and seventeen (17) Students came forward for HIV Test.
  11. The RRC of Cornerstone College, Dimapur conducted an Orientation of RRC Cum HIV & AIDS Awareness on 11th MAY 2016.
  12. The RRC, Kohima Law College, Kohima organized painting competition under the theme “it’s my Life, I’m in Control” on 16th September, 2016
  13. The RRC of Kohima Science College conducted an Orientation of RRC Cum HIV & AIDS Awareness.
  14. The RRC, Baptist Theological College, Pfutsero organized seminar on HIV & AIDS during World AIDS 2016
  15. On12th August 2016, the RRC, Oriental College, Kohima  organized Blood Donation Camp and HIV Test. Eight (8) RRC members donated their Blood and  33 Students came forward for HIV Test.
  16. RRC, Wangkhao Govt. College, Mon conducted “Peer Educator” Programme on 23rd September, 2016. On the same day Essay Competition on the theme “Importance of Blood Donation” was held.
  17. On 30th July, 2016 RRC, Mountain View Christian College, Kohima conducted Orientation of RRC Cum Blood Donation
  18. RRC, Sazolie College, Kohima conducted orientation-cum-blood donation awareness & HIV test at sazolie college, jotsoma, Kohima under the theme “Donate Blood Save Life.” 17 (Seventeen) RRC Members donated Blood and 33 (Thirty Three) Student came forward for HIV Test
  19. RRC, Alder College, Kohima organized International Youth Day with the theme “Agents of Change, my life, my health” in collaboration with Nagaland State AIDS Control Society at Auditorium hall, Alder College, Kohima. Blood Donation Drive: 12 Red Ribbon Club members donated blood.
  20. RRC, Capital College of Higher Education, Kohima conducted one-day workshop on sensitization on Tobacco Consumption & related diseases.
