Adolescent Education Programme

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has rolled out the AEP program from class 5-8 since 2005 and Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has rolled out the AEP since 2007 from class 9-12.

Aims:

  • Enhance knowledge level of adolescents to facilitate informed decisions with regard to Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH).
  • Strengthen life-skills for translation of knowledge into responsible actions, enabling young people to protect themselves from and to cope with risky situations they encounter in their lives and
  • Prevent new infections of HIV and AIDS among youth.

Objectives:

  • Adolescence education at schools in a sustained manner
  • Development of structured curriculum for education on ARSH
  • Integration of curriculum by every school across the country

 

Training of Teachers on Adolescence Education Program

Training of Teachers on Adolescence Education Program was held at three education block under Kohima district: EBRC, Sechu Zubza and EBRC, L.Khel on the 14th of March 2019 and EBRC Tseminyu on the 20th of March 2019. The training was jointly organized by SCERT, Dept. of School Education and Nagaland State AIDS Control Society.

The DEO while thanking NSACS for the opportunity given to the dept. of School Education in choosing Teachers for the Adolescence Education Program, also encourage the Teachers to continue in their effort to be the carriers of message for the young people in their school and guide them in their growing up years, as Teachers are looked upon as the role model by the young students.
