Red Ribbon Clubs



Two new RRC colleges were initiated and formed in FY 2018-19 (College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry; Jalukie Peren, and Shamator College, Shamator; Tuensang).  Activities like HIV & AIDS Awareness Programme, Blood Donation Camps; Competition based Programme, Drama/Play, visit to PLHIV Networks, HIV Test in the Campus, etc, were the highlights of RRC programmes in the State.


With the objective of equipping peer educators of existing Red Ribbon Club colleges with correct knowledge about issues related to HIV/AIDS, zonal trainings of RRC Peer Educators was carried out in 3 trainings at Mokokchung, Dimapur and Kohima.

The 1st training of RRC peer educators was conducted on the 19th of September, 2018 at Hotel Metsuben, Mokokchung Town. A total of 28 participants from 14 RRC colleges in Mokokchung, Wokha Zunheboto, Longleng and Tuensang Districts attended the training.

The 2nd training of RRC peer educators was conducted on 24th January, 2019 at LCS Building, Kohima. A total of 34 participants from 29 RRC colleges in Kohima, Phek and Kiphire districts attended the training.

The 3rd training of RRC peer educators was conducted on 29th January, 2019 at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur. A total of 37 participants from 18 RRC colleges in Dimapur, Peren and Mon attended the training.

The topics covered during the sessions included: HIV scenario in the State & Services available under NSACS , Basics of HIV, STI, ART, Stigma & Discrimination, Myths & Misconceptions, Introduction to RRC : New RRC Guidelines, Objectives, Report & Documentation, Utilization Certificate , Roles & Responsibilities of Red Ribbon Clubs and Peer Educators.
