About NSACS

Nagaland has an adult prevalence rate of 1.34% (NACO HIV Estimation 2022) and General Population prevalnce rate of 1.61% (NACO HSS Technical report 2021) . It has now been 33 years since the first HIV & AIDS positive case was detected in the year 1990 amongst the IDUs by ICMR. The programme is implemented through Nagaland State AIDS Control Society headed by the Project Director.

The National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), established in 1992, is a division of India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that provides leadership to HIV & AIDS control programme in India through HIV & AIDS Prevention and Control Societies, and is “the nodal organisation for formulation of policy and implementation of programs for prevention and control of HIV & AIDS in India.”
